The best of Makay North

Start the hike in the Makay after the car transfer to get closer before going up a dry river for few hours. Then enter the heart of the massif by a large valley to arrive in Andranomitea cave, a place for a break to admire the unique landscape. After climbing the 1034 meter high peak where you will have a spectacular view, we will descend by another tributary to our next campsite. Dinner and overnight CAMPING
Two days of good hiking to link the Janjy campsite to the Sakapaly river, spending one night bivouac upstream of another river coming out of the Makay massif called “Ikaosy”. A few easy climbs will spice up the pace in order to have access to some hidden facets while skirting the eastern facade of the chain. Our local team will choose shortcuts to arrive before us to prepare installation. Dinner and overnight CAMPING
Today, we will begin the incursions into the Makay Massif by starting up a tributary of Sakapaly through a 3 to 4 km canyon to go out into another canyon that leads to the starting point by making a hiking loop. This day allows you to discover several facets of the Makay because the landscapes change with each step done. Picnic lunch while walking, dinner and overnight. CAMPING
We leave our campsite early in the morning by climbing on the sandstone plateau which allows a 360 ° view from one of the roofs of Makay. Passing by a dry forest for a small stopover (picnic) before reaching a new canyon that we will follow until the destination campsite. Installation, dinner and overnight. CAMPING
We leave our campsite in the morning and walk about 4 hours to reach the village of Tsiazorambo where the driver is waiting for us. This is also the place where we will do our farewell to the local guide and the Makay porters team. Then we continue our way to Morondava via Malaimbandy with a stop at the famous baobab alley to wait for the sunset before transfer to the hotel.
