We have called this trip « The best of Makay South »! It is composed of the South and Center of the massif. You will start the adventure by meeting the local guide and the porters team who will come with you inside the Makay. This would be an opportunity to get to know them. The exploration is mainly composed of trekking. You will walk 6 to 7 hours per day. This tour demands an excellent physical condition and good health.

day 1
Early in the morning, start to drive to Morondava on 750 km of road which lasts 14 hours with a lunch stop on the way. The trip seems long but a great variety and diversity of scenery can be observed during the trip. Arrival late in Morondava, hotel check-in. Dinner and overnight.
day 2
After an early breakfast, leave Morondava and drive off-road until Mandabe. Then reach the small village of Ambararatanaomby. Meet the local guide and porters who will help for all the luggage. Start to walk towards the Makay massif and later, stop on a river side. Dinner and overnight CAMPING in the wild.
day 3
After packing, start trekking inside the massif of Makay and go down along the flow of Mazaindrano. Then, climb a peak to admire spectacular landscape, view on an endemic palm forest of Malay in an aquatic environment, between hills in the form of a human brain. Dinner and overnight CAMPING
day 4
We are now in the middle of the Southern part of Makay. With a rope, climb a hill to have a view on the lakes before making a tour by pirogue on Saririaky lake. Then walk around the Anosilahy lake to reach the edge of the Makay River. Dinner and overnight CAMPING
day 5 - 6
We continue walking on flat field through a dry forest without leaving the massif. Pass through the village of Morafeno and visit a cave to learn about ancient paintings and drawings left by the population of yesteryear in the massif before continuing to the Menapanda River. Dinner and overnight CAMPING
day 7
Day trip to the paradise site following the tributary of Andranomanitsy which allows you to enjoy the different viewpoints that mix the green forests and the large sandstone hills at the base of the Vohibe Makay, one of the highlights of Makay. Back to camp in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight. CAMPING
day 8
Take another trail along the Menapanda River for about 6 to 7 hours to reach the village of Tsivoko. On arrival, set up the camp near the village then visit the school and dispensary. Last dinner with the local guide and porters. Meet the driver and the vehicle. Dinner and overnight CAMPING
day 9
Drive from the village of Tsivoko to reach the North through the small town of Tanamary and Mandronarivo. Stop for lunch on the way and continue as far as possible to install the camp. Dinner and overnight in the campsite at the edge of another river.
day 10
In the morning, we leave the camp and drive to Morondava via Malaimbandy where the off road ends and continue paved road until the famous Baobab Avenue to wait for the sunset photography. Arrival late in the evening and check-in. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
day 11
Day at leisure in Morondava to take a rest and to discover the capital of the Menabe region. Optional activities available at the hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
day 12
Day to link Morondava and Antananarivo for about 12 hours by passing through the town of Antsirabe. Lunch and continue until destination. Hotel check-in upon arrival. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. END OF PROGRAM
